Reset Pain · Chronic Persistent Pain
Persistent pain is not just a physical discomfort. It affects how you move, how you rest, how you work and, often, how you relate to your own body.
I see patients in San Pedro del Pinatar (Lo Pagán), Pilar de la Horadada and Torrevieja.
RESET PAIN is a physiotherapy approach designed to support people living with chronic or persistent pain, when pain has been affecting their movement and daily life for some time. The aim is not only to relieve pain, but also to restore confidence in the body, enable people to move more confidently again and improve their quality of life in a progressive and personalised way.
RESET PAIN is not a standard treatment or a list of techniques. It is a process tailored to each person, their history and their stage of life.
The aim of RESET PAIN is not to create dependence on treatment, medication or other therapies. The process is designed so that, little by little, you gain autonomy, understand your body better and have the tools to manage pain in your daily life.
What is chronic pain?
Chronic or persistent pain is pain that lasts for months or years, even when there is no visible physical injury or medical tests show no significant changes.
This does not mean that the pain is 'imaginary' or that you are crazy. The problem lies in how the nervous system interprets the signals.
Living with pain for so long does not only affect the body. Little by little, pain can begin to influence decisions, movements and daily habits.
Many people stop doing things they enjoy, move with fear, avoid exertion or feel frustrated at not finding a clear solution. Sometimes fatigue sets in, along with a lack of confidence in one's own body or the feeling that "no one understands what is wrong with me".
Why does this happen?
When pain persists for a long time, it is not always due to an active injury. The nervous system can become more sensitive and reactive, interpreting normal signals from the body as a threat.
It is as if the pain volume is turned up too high and the body remains in a constant state of alert, even when performing movements or exertions that were not previously a problem.
🖤 The body also has mechanisms to modulate pain.
Our body has natural systems capable of regulating and reducing pain, acting as a "filter" that can reduce the intensity of pain signals.
In situations of persistent pain, these mechanisms may be less active or dysregulated, but they can be retrained and regulated through appropriate movement, safety, and positive experience.
This approach is based on helping the body feel safer so that these pain regulation systems can function better again.
Through progressive movement, understanding of pain, and respectful support, we seek to help the nervous system stop being on constant alert and gradually regain its ability to modulate pain.
Nutrition and persistent pain: support that makes a difference
Chronic pain is multifactorial, and diet can have a greater influence than we think.
A proper nutritional plan can help you:
• Reduce low-grade chronic inflammation, which is very common in persistent pain.
• Improve energy, sleep, and recovery, which are key to reducing sensitivity to movement.
• Promote weight loss (if necessary), which reduces stress on joints such as knees, hips, and spine.
• Regulate glucose, the immune system and microbiota, factors that are related to pain and fatigue.
• Increase muscle mass and strength, essential for better tolerance of daily activity.
It is not about following a "strict diet", but about finding a diet that helps you feel better, move better and supports your process.
Who is this approach for?
• People with persistent pain.
• Pain that limits daily life, basic activities and/or sport.
• Pain that persists despite "normal" test results, X-rays or MRIs.
• Fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis, arthritis, complex regional pain syndrome or other conditions that cause persistent pain.
• Cancer pain.
• Cases where "nothing works", the pain is temporarily relieved but returns again and again.
How do we do it?
The goal here is clear:
to get you back to doing what you want to do, with less fear, more control and a better quality of life.
Personalised assessment
Each process begins with a calm and unhurried assessment. We discuss your history with pain, how you move, what you avoid and what you would like to be able to do again. Understanding your situation is the basis for making meaningful progress.
Adapted and progressive movement
Movement is a central part of the sessions, always adapted to your current situation. It is not about forcing yourself or exercising for the sake of it, but about gradually regaining confidence in your body, at your own pace.
Education about pain
During the process, we work to help you better understand what is happening to you, why the pain behaves the way it does, and how your thoughts and emotions influence your perception of pain. The goal is for each session to provide you with practical tools to manage pain outside of the clinic and become less dependent on treatment, medication, or other therapies.
Complementary nutritional approach
that can greatly assist in the process
⚠️ This approach is not for everyone.
And that's okay.
It's not for those who want to lie down on a treatment table and wait for their pain to go away.
It's not for those who want "temporary pain relief" without getting involved.
It's not for those who expect a quick fix without changing anything.
This approach is for people who want to regain control of their situation.
For those who are tired of relying on treatments that only provide temporary relief, of waiting for results that never come, or of living in fear of movement.
Here, we work to help you get your life back: move, work, train, enjoy...
Because the goal is not just to eliminate pain at any cost, but to stop it from controlling your life.
If you are willing to actively participate, understand what is happening to you and build a different relationship with your body, this approach can help you.
If not, this is not for you right now.
Frequently Asked Questions
What exactly is persistent pain?
It is pain that persists over time, beyond the initial injury, and may remain present even if medical tests show no clear damage. It does not mean that you are "making it up", but rather that your nervous system has become more sensitive.
Is the aim here to remove the pain at all costs?
Not always. The main objective is for you to be able to live your life more normally, move with less fear and regain control. In many cases, the pain improves as a result of this process, but immediate disappearance cannot be promised due to the neural changes that have remained for so long.
Is this approach for everyone?
No. It is not for those looking for a passive or quick fix. It is for people who are willing to get involved, understand their pain and work progressively.
Is the treatment just exercise?
No. The work is active, but different tools are combined depending on the situation: movement, education, therapeutic exercise, nervous system regulation strategies and, when appropriate, manual therapy.
What if I have been in pain for many years?
It is not too late. The approach is just right for treating long-term processes and pain, lasting months and/or years.
Can I combine it with massage or more conventional physiotherapy?
Yes. At times, massage or manual therapy can help modulate pain and facilitate the process, always as part of a broader approach.
How long does a persistent pain process last?
There are no set times. Each process is different and is adjusted according to your progress, without unrealistic promises or fixed deadlines, and without taking longer than necessary. The goal is for you to be independent and know how to manage your pain when you need to without assistance.
